Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer Inc., a Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for more than thirty years, has helped shape the computing industry with his design of Apple’s first line of products the Apple I and II and influenced the popular Macintosh. In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer. The following year, he introduced his Apple II personal computer, featuring a central processing unit, a keyboard, color graphics, and a floppy disk drive. The Apple II was integral in launching the personal computer industry. In 1981, he went back to UC Berkeley and finished his degree in electrical engineering/computer science. For his achievements at Apple Computer, Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985, the highest honor bestowed on America’s leading innovators. International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has published a report on “Measuring the informative society” which captures the level of advancement of information and communication technologies of countries worldwide. Here Armenia ranks the 72th receiving 3,87 points in 10-point grading scale. In comparison to 2008 Armenia has moved for 11 points in the rating. “In recent two years many countries have had positive changes in this sphere both in absolute and relative terms. Among such dynamic countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Portugal, Cyprus, etc.” is stated in the report. The other countries in the Southern Caucasus, such as Azerbaijan and Georgia concede Armenia, by holding the 74th and 77th levels accordingly. Turkey is the 59th and Iran - 87th. CIS leader is Russia, after which succeed Belarus and Moldova. Do you see any development in this sector? - The IT is in the initial phase in Armenia, i.e. the phase of formation. A lot of work must be done. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan has met with co-founder of Apple computer Steve Wozniak, who received a prize from the president of Armenia in 2011 for world contribution to the development of information technologies. “I know that your father has had a great role in the development of your career. According to our information, the newly established “Fibernet” company belongs to the Minister of Transport and Communication, Andranik Manukyan, and to the head of ministry personnel, Walter Marutyun. We tried tolearn about that information from the press department of the ministry, but they told us that they could not ask the minister that question. One of the greatest investor in IT in Armenia, “Synopsis” company has started to lose a lot of finances because of the instabile currency exchange rates. According to the chairman of “Synopsis Armenia” CJSC, Hovik Musayelyan, they believe that the mentioned process can’t last long. Everyone knows that internet connection in Armenia is poor and people suffer financial losses because of this. Internet users pay more than the market price due to bad internet connection. Minister of Transportation and Communications Andranik Manukyan had this to say about that: "We are going to demand that internet-service providers provide internet users with the connection units (megabytes) that they get from "ArmenTel" instead of minutes." ...

Recently Andranik Margaryan visited Tunis to take part in the meeting of “Information society” project. During this visit the RA government made an arrangement to apply Alcatel and Intel technologies in Armenia which allows joining the Internet without any cable. The RA government made a memorandum with Alcatel company, according to which they will found an educational and scientific center in Armenia and will apply Wi-Fi and Wimax remote technologies. This will allow us to enlarge the Internet connection in Marzes. ...
