Interview with the RA health care minister, doctor of medical sciences, professor Harutyun Kushkyan

- Mr. Kushkyan, several years ago the anti-corruption department at the president’s office found out that one of the most corrupt fields was health care and education. Do you think that the situation is the same now too? - Generally I can’t combine the term “corrupt” with health care since health care is very humanistic and doesn’t fit with such understanding. However, there are shady processes in the health care system, which are a result of many years starting from the Soviet times. For this purpose today new solutions and mechanisms are being created to manage the health care system effectively and prevent such shortcomings. It is also worth mentioning that the financial contributions by the government to ambulatory and stationery medical centers, which are growing every year, provide an opportunity to cover their expenses and gradually increase salaries, which will support to solve those problems too. “Medicine is an intercommunicative structure”-Interview with Minister of Health Norair Davidyan

Surgeon and doctor of medical sciences Norair Davidyan has been the Health Minister of Armenia since June 2003. Although N. Davidyan has always received excellent marks in school, however there were many reforms during his years of study at the Medical Institute and there are still huge reforms made by the ministry and for several years now, the health sector of Armenia has received satisfactory ratings during the annual report of the Health Ministry. Fake medicine terror method

Since 2003 the control of medicine inspection has been done by the Ministry of Healthcare (MH). Prior to that this function was entrusted to the “Medicine Agency” CSJC. In 1996-2003 they have revealed 150 brands of fake medicine in the Armenian market. Also, in CIS first fake medicine was found in Armenia in 1996. According to international statistics 52% of medicine faking goes for antibiotics. According to monitoring most frequently considerably expensive and demanding medicines are falsified. According to the data 2005 the turnout of medicines in the international trade network amounts to 450-600 billion USD. And according o the data of the WHO 10% of the circulated medicines are fake ones. Some international organizations believe that the amount of fake medicine circulation is 25%. Since 1998 the law on medicine of RA acts in RA. The NA is going to discuss at the second reading the new draft on medicines, however the experts think that even the most perfect laws may be violated without the right...

Another 22 million to Armenia

By the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Armenia, parallel to the first phase of the program “Update of the Health Sector” which will launch in June, the second phase will last until 2012. The Central Bank of Armenia will allocate a 22 million-dollar loan to Armenia with the purpose of carrying out the extensive work in the health sector, of which 7 million will be co-financed by the government and the clinics of the districts. During the second phase of the project, each Marz will have high-powered health care institutions equipped with ultramodern medical equipments and trained professionals. The selection must be made from the medical clinics where population growth is recorded. Currently, a serious study is being conducted in the Marzes. ...
